BYD Sealion 08 Launches in China with Second-Generation Blade Battery Options

BYD officially introduced the Sealion 08 on 2 September 2026, marking the market launch of this mid-to-large SUV available in eight variants. Pre-orders opened on 13 August, with launch pricing unchanged from pre-sale levels. Prices span from 229,900 yuan to 279,900 yuan, covering plug-in hybrid and battery electric configurations.
Designed under the "Ocean Aesthetics 2.0" language, the Sealion 08 features "Ice Eye" daytime running lights incorporating 132 high-power LED elements crafted with crystal thick-wall diamond processes. The vehicle measures 5,115mm in length, 1,999mm in width, and 1,800mm in height with a 3,030mm wheelbase. Six single-tone colours and two dual-tone options are available, paired with 20-inch or 21-inch wheels featuring stationary logo hub caps.
The interior accommodates five or six passengers with a 17.3-inch central screen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and 26-inch AR-HUD. Premium appointments include eight-way power-adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, and 10-point massage functionality. The six-seat layout incorporates zero-gravity seats with lateral adjustment capability and a 21.4-inch ceiling screen for rear occupants, complemented by a 25-speaker Devialet system with Dolby Atmos.
The plug-in hybrid version employs a 1.5T engine delivering 115 kW, paired with single or dual motors rated at 200 kW each. A 55.843 kWh second-generation Blade Battery provides 350–400 kilometre pure electric range and 1,650 kilometre combined autonomy. The battery electric variant offers single-motor (370 kW) or dual-motor (585 kW combined) layouts using a 115.072 kWh Blade Battery, achieving 800–900 kilometre CLTC range with 0–100 km/h acceleration between 5.9 and 3.9 seconds.
The Sealion 08 utilises a double-wishbone front and five-link rear suspension with DiSus-A intelligent air suspension providing road preview, active rear-wheel steering, crab walk mode, and rollover prevention. The 4.95-metre turning radius benefits from these systems. Integration of the God's Eye 5.0 intelligent driving platform completes the technical specification.
