Nio Reaches 150,000 Deliveries of Third-Generation ES8 Within First Year
Nio achieved a major milestone this week as third-generation ES8 deliveries reached 150,000 units within one year of launch in September 2025. The large electric SUV accounted for 62.21% of the main brand's total deliveries during the first eight months of 2026, cementing its role as Nio's sales leader.
Yang Bo, Nio's head of user operations, announced the achievement via Weibo on Monday. The third-generation ES8 began deliveries on September 21, 2025, one day after its market introduction in China on September 20. The model reached 140,000 cumulative deliveries at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 21, with the latest 10,000 units delivered over approximately one month.
ES8 deliveries totaled 99,948 units during the first eight months of 2026. According to the China Passenger Car Association, these deliveries represented 62.21% of the main Nio brand's total and 38.02% of the entire Nio Inc portfolio. The main brand delivered 11,001 vehicles in August, a 6.93% increase from July and marking the second consecutive month exceeding 10,000 deliveries. Nio's combined lineup achieved this sustained delivery pace despite intensifying market competition.
Nio expanded the ES8 lineup by introducing a five-seat variant on July 9, with deliveries beginning July 10. Priced from 382,800 yuan ($56,550) at launch—5.9% below the three-row version's entry price—the five-seat variant broadened the model's market appeal. The addition proved commercially significant, opening a new segment within the large electric SUV category. Combined, the ES8 and premium ES9 achieved 17,480 August deliveries, representing 82.55% of the main brand's sales and underscoring the critical importance of large electric SUVs to Nio's market strategy.
